"Don't worry about it"

Yesterday Brian and i were talking about how consumed we are with worry. Mostly women. It is amazing how much we worry about stuff and the day we find out self not worrying about something we WORRY that we aren't worried enough. The other day i found my self there. I'm sitting at the bar doing internet "reserch" hee hee.. brian and josh mezzano are having lunch and josh goes, "so brian, how is work?" And i'm thinking to myself, " Yeah, brian how IS work?" As some of you know brian works for himself and gets most of his work thru word of mouth. The money we make changes from month to month. Right now, as always we are not lacking. But there i am at the bar with NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT! thinking oh.. what is wrong. i should worry.. about uh.. yeah.. brian.. let me worry about brian. Oh MY GOSH what a waist of time. Besides the fact that we aren't just strongly encouraged in scripture to not worry but TOLD not to worry.

Matt 6:
25"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
27"And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
28"And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
29yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
30"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!
31"Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?'
32"For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34"So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I know this long. but i thought we all needed to see it again. Isn't it amazing even when we are talking to a good friend, if we haven't thought (worried) about a particular part of something we even encourage eachother to worry about things!

I was challenged by Steph's Blog to listen to a Rob Bell Sermon on the Theology of Breathing. I would encourage you to take a listen. He has you work thru the things you are mad, anxious and frustrated about. Encouraging you to breath out those things. Giving them to the Spirit which consecuently in Greek is the same word as breath. Thanks for posting that Steph.

It is amazing how He shows Himself to be faithful when we trust Him with all things, big and small. He was serious when He told us, out of His own mouth - red letters, to stop worrying.

Some music that has just been helping me to "Don't worry about it" is the Kings of Conveinience. They are soo chill! It isn't exactly that they have any thing profound to say they just calm me down in such a great way.. Getcha some! love you guys!

Joy you're so right. Tim always tells me worrying is the most useless emotion. I'm so thankful the Lord has been teaching me a lesson about that the last few months - as I'm learning to not worry, He's showing me all the other blessings I was missing out on b/c I was so consumed with fear. Praise the Lord!

(and nice shameless plug for the Kings of Convenience ;) )

Joy~
thank you so much for sharing that scripture! I am reminded that worry is essentially saying to God, "Dude, what are you up to? You sure you can handle this? You sure you don't need my help?"

We are instructed to CLOTHE ourselves with Compassion....and Hope, and Truth...
What and amazing way to live. What a freedom! Now, that is a yoke I can handle.
loves!!!
