Bloom Craft Studio

So, it has begun. Bloom has been officially approved by Mike Neighbors. And i'll be looking for voluteers soo let me know if you would like to join the Bloom Petals :)

The Bloom dream came to me at 3am Sept 3rd of this year. I've been praying for a way to use my gifts and encourage and recruit other peoplem to be a part of it. (can you tell i really miss that part of Mary Kay?) As you all know, i can't stop making things. Knitting, sowing, videos, and anything else that might peak my interest at any time. So i thought that a place to do these things would just work great. There isn't any thing out there right now that works that way. If you go to a craft store to a class of some sort 1. you usually have to buy your supplies there 2. you can't just show up and use the place to work on a project 3. It's expensive 4. you won't meet as cool of people as you would at a place like Bloom. What better place to do this than at our new building at Grace? So we asked for the Lunchroom. It is going to be perfect! We'll post pictures soon.

I'm sure you guys can come up with other reasons why it will be a great place to work, meet, mingle, encourage, grow and bloom.. i want to hear it from you.

Brian will be working on a Website soon. We will be having a meeting with the a potential core team to see who wants a chunk of responsibility and who wants just a bite. Right now we have in place our beautiful "Designing Women" Stephanie Miear and Kelly Portnoy. I love these girls! I am so proud of my self for picking the most talented designing women that i know! I know i did the right thing. So i call them both up and tell them the news yesterday that we had approval for our very own space. Kelly goes to the church, takes pictures of the room and with in hours they get together and have the entire plan down. OH MY GOSH they are GENIUSES!! MAD PROPS TO MY GIRLS!! i'm soo excited.. you guys are AMAZING!

Now if only i can live up to this, and follow thru the best way i can to make this work. I'm so thankful that the Body of Christ works this way. Those that have gifts in certain areas can do what they do best, making the rest of us look great :) i'm so thankful right now i'm bursting with fruit flavor right now! Yeshua is so good. He satisfies you with good things. More on all of this soon.

Eastern turned Western

So Jen Love and i took a felting class in Bedford at the Yarn Theory and our great teacher Jan Mosley was coaching me on making and I-cord for my felted bag. So i was showing her the way i knit cause Gaylyn says it's Continental style, so i was showing off "my way" She was just watching and kinda goes.. Oh.. ok. I see... (i'm thinking, soo your not impressed here?) She goes you knit the Eastern Crossed Method... Um i do?

Apparently it is the oldest style of knitting. It is taught or comes from South America, which is where i learned how to knit. I found out that Eastern Crossed Method is not as published as the "Western Method" that all my girls are used to. Jan basically said i'm going to have to switch to the Western style if i want to follow any patterns in the future or i can just make up my own. So i told my girls about this.. Kinda depressing at first. Great now i'm really fast, can pretty much knit w/o looking and i'm ready for that sweater.. but i have to change the whole way i knit?? dang it!

Everybody was like, you can totally make up your own patterns and knit the way you do. Which i have, um, yeah, my turquoise shrug *ahem* aaaand the closest thing to a compliment on that is.. "hey where's the rest of your sweater?" to which i say " oh, my gosh.. i, i forgot it.." So maybe designing patterns isn't my thing ok??

So i started knitting western, i was really afraid at first that it would slow me way down.. and i'm happy to say it did for a little bit and now it's great! i actually like the knit stich better than my Eastern Method. Anyhow. i feel more confident now. I know brian will be proud he wanted me to learn this. Now i can teach people how to knit the right way. (i would always refer them to Gaylyn before cause my way was "different') I love it. I'll post some pictures soon of my felted bag. i love to knit. i still can't stop..
knit on!!
